ShelterCurrent · Intake and arrivals

Give each arrival a clear next step.

ShelterCurrent connects homeless shelter intake with bed placement. Review person details, choose the stay and bed, then confirm check-in. Reservations, household intake, and the waitlist support the work around an arrival.

Bring expected and new arrivals together

Staff may be welcoming someone with a reservation, responding to a waitlist entry, or helping a person arriving without either. ShelterCurrent supports individual and household intake alongside reservations, a waitlist, and turnaway records.

Start by confirming the situation and current capacity. An entry on a list does not replace your facility’s admission decision or a check that a suitable bed is ready.

Follow the intake steps

  1. Person. Choose the intake program and collect the information your facility needs for the stay.
  2. Stay. Review the program, bed, and relevant placement information.
  3. Review. Check the details and complete the admission confirmations before check-in.
  4. Check the result. Confirm that the completed arrival and bed placement appear in daily operations.

The sample screen shows the summary alongside these steps, with no bed selected yet. Administrators manually configure programs, rooms, beds, and standard choices. Review that setup before staff begin working with real arrivals.

Make room for the situations around intake

Use household intake when welcoming people together. Review reservations and waitlist entries as their circumstances change. When a placement cannot be offered, the turnaway workflow helps record that activity for your operational review.

Agree as a team who updates these records and when. Software can organize the work, but an outdated reservation still needs a staff decision.

Complete the welcome around the record

Check-in also includes explaining the shelter’s services and the resident’s next step. Use the free staff intake checklist and resident welcome sheet to prepare that conversation. The editable Word files and print copies work with your current tools.

In the demo, complete a fictional arrival and find the resulting placement. Separately, review the welcome sheet against your actual service times and contact information. The worksheet is an operational aid, not an eligibility assessment or a substitute for required forms.

Check fit before entering information

The standard service is designed for privately operated U.S. emergency shelters with roughly 10–100 beds. It does not cover restricted clinical, medication, victim-service, or dedicated youth data. Review the full eligibility details on the pricing page before entering resident information.

Required HMIS entry remains separate; automated sync and guaranteed bulk import are not included. Explore intake with fictional data first.
